Out But Not Quite Out
Although my Appalachian folktale, Ferradiddledumday, won't be officially out until next month, some of the online stores are already listing it.
Cedar Creek's distributor, BCH, has Ferradiddledumday available on this page. You can pre-purchase it at Amazon.com here. Heck, it's even on Amazon in Japan and somewhere in Europe.
On Wednesday, illustrator Bruce Rae and I were interviewed by Laurie Edwards, a former Ferrum College student of mine and now an excellent writer for The Laker Weekly. She asked us some good questions, so I'm looking forward to reading her story in a couple of weeks. (Among the numerous Laker Weekly stories Laurie has written is this one about a Union Hall haunted mansion, this one about folks who live on houseboats, and—my favorite—this one about a border collie who keeps geese off a Smith Mountain Lake golf course.)
Laurie thought that Bruce's pen and ink illustrations looked like woodcuts. I hadn't thought about it before, but I think she's right.
What do you think?

Yes, they do look like woodcuts. I remember doing one in art class 40 years ago or so. Hadn't thought about that in a long time. Nice artwork!
