More Clouds

We've had rain most of this week—this summer has been the rainiest one for quite a few years. Roanoke  and Salem had flooding problems the other night, but my section of Franklin County was lucky. While it hasn't rained here today (yet), the sky has been cloudy all day.

These pictures were taken today from my back deck. This morning, clouds rapidly moved from the south—usually a bad sign—and headed toward the northwest. These clouds have a Rorschach test-like appearance. What pictures do you see in the clouds?

The next pictures were taken in my front yard as I faced Smith Mountain to the northeast.

The GMO corn across the road is growing fast with all the recent moisture.

Looks like the mountain might have gotten some rain, but we didn't get any here . . .

. . .until 4:15. Then here was the view from the deck . . .

. . . and the view from the front . . .

. . .  and the view toward Smith Mountain.

Looks like this rain hasn't reached the mountain yet. And while it rained out back . . .

. . .the clouds started moving out.

The weather is best when it needs no comment. Lately it's needed is a lot of comment!

We finally had a sunny day with no rain. It was nice to see the sun again.
